Doug Strudwick
ISSA Certified Personal Trainer

Who is Doug Strudwick?

I am a ISSA certified trainer who has been involved in health coaching and personal training for over 20 years.  I have completed a wide variety of certifications and continue to invest in more education to keep up with the current and very rapidly evolving industry.  My greatest inspiration was my first coach and physical therapist, my grandmother.  At the age of 4 my leg was severely broken.  When the cast was removed my grandmother saw how weak the leg had become making it difficult to walk.  She immediately insisted that I live with her for the summer.  With my grandmothers teaching and support I first learnt how to crawl and then walk.  After much work we fully rebuilt my leg allowing full use of all activities.  Her love and unwavering commitment taught me how to treat others and who I wanted to be as a person.

In High School I became a track athlete, with sprinting as my favourite event.   I later became a strength athlete, competing in the sport of Strongman and powerlifting.  In 2010 i became Kingston ON Strongest Man and in 2015 I placed 3rd at the Amateur Provincial Championships.   All of that due to a great coach who believed in me from the start.

In 2008 I began working as a trainer in a commercial gym and never looked back.  I was given the opportunity to teach other Personal Trainers and learned from many amazing educators in the Fitness world.  I developed a knack for helping clients rehabilitate injuries.  Many of those  injuries were unfortunately caused by poorly educated trainers.  In 2019 I had a partial knee replacement.  All my clients reminded me of how I helped them, giving me the motivation and inspiration to take on my own rehab.  Step by step I rebuilt myself and came back even stronger.

Currently my family and I are embarking on a new adventure in Nova Scotia and I am taking on new clients.
